New Salem United Methodist UMW Club News

Joyce Brewer, president, called the 1 p.m. Sept. 12 meeting to order by members repeating the UMW Purpose. Twelve members answered roll calls with: "Tell about a book or article you've recently read." Minutes were read and approved. There were 11 Sick & Shut-In Calls made in the previous month.

Sharon Tushhoff presented the Pledge Service Program "Blessings of Giving."

Brewer reported on an article from the Response Magazine "Out of the Rocking Chairs-into the Fire." She sent birthday cards to three missionaries.

Four members attended the New McKendree UMW Meeting and Luncheon on Sept. 6.

The unit, with participation from the church members, collected Dental Kits for the Festival of Sharing.

Nomination committee presented the new officers for 2017:

President — Margie Roberts

V. President — Verla Mangels

Secretary — Karen McLane

Treasurer — Betty Hahs

This slate of officers were accepted.

Hostesses: Sharon Tuchhoff and Jackie Kurre

Our next meeting will be a Salad Luncheon on Oct. 3 with our Shepherdess, Mary Klaproth, as guest.
