Plenty of fun in September

Summer's all but officially over.

Schools are back in session. The temperature is -- finally -- starting to drop. In just a few short weeks we'll move into the fall season.

But that doesn't mean that the fun that comes with the summer months has to come to an end.

There are plenty of exciting happenings to mark on your calendar.

The Benton Neighbor Days Festival, which has been held since 1925, takes place next Friday and Saturday. What better way to spend Labor Day weekend than with carnival rides, exhibits and more?

The SEMO District Fair kicks off Sept. 10 and runs through Sept. 17. In addition to the rides, food, competitions and activities, there will be performances by Old Dominion and the Oak Ridge Boys.

Other musical performances pop up at various establishments in the region all the time, so be sure to keep up with semoevents.com for more information on those.

And sports have started back up at all levels, so there's plenty of opportunities to support our local teams.

We encourage each of you to get out and enjoy the events that are going on this time of year.
