MerchEntice: Who let the '90s back in?

So, it feels like an armpit outside. The kids are back in school, I'm anxious to have my "Grey's Anatomy" back, and I'm over having to shave my legs like twice a day. Besides, if you follow me on social media, you are well aware I'm not very good at it, and it's hard to get a decent tan with all these Band-Aids. I look like a sassy zebra.

Now, while I won't bore you with the cliche yearnings for the season of boots and pumpkin spice everything, I will do my best to make sure you know how to be prepared for the first chilly wind that blows through your closet -- you know, the one that makes you want to bake something and watch a scary movie.

Leggings. Now that I have all you ladies' attention (chocolate, just in case that didn't work), I need everyone to look around. What do you see? That's right, somebody let the '90s back in. I'm not sure how it happened, but it looks like we all jumped into a time machine and headed back to the days of plaid, Doc Martens, and hey, maybe even a Clinton in the White House. Now, while I'd love to see this tribute to the grunge era result in a sequel to the cult classic "Clueless," there honestly aren't many things I want to revisit just yet.

Enter stirrup pants. Just when you think leggings are so perfect a thing that they leave no room for improvement, they reintroduce that stretchy little strap at the end and you find yourself wondering how these were ever not a thing. They are already popping up on celeb trendsetters like Kendall Jenner and Sarah Jessica Parker, and while I didn't always agree with Carrie Bradshaw on her choice of men, I could rarely argue with her closet.

What else should you expect to see "befall" us this autumn? None other than velvet, the historic fabric of nobility. Whether it takes its shape in the form of booties, slip dresses or the classic blazer, you can certainly expect to see this royal regalia make an appearance on all the kings and queens of fashion. I'm on the hunt for my own plush piece in preparation for all the pumpkins. You should follow suit. Silken suit.
