What do you see as the county commission's role in economic development in Perry County?

I feel that tourism is a very important part of a thriving community. I always support the Chamber of Commerce, Peeryville Development Corporation, and the Economic Development Authority activities. These groups are crucial to increasing tourism in our county. The Perry Count Heritage Tourism director is a fairly new position and has been very successful in promoting Perryville and Perry County.

What are the major challenges facing Perry County?

The most important issue facing the commissioners is ensuring that our infrastructure is in top condition.

What in your background or education makes you qualified to be Perry County commissioner?

One of the main parts of this position involves the road and bridge department and I have 25 years of experience with heavy equipment, all types of rock, and what it takes to build a good road. I also have good people skills and I take a common sense approach to get the job done.

Closing remarks

I have been serving the voters in District 2 for 7 1/2 years and I feel that I have made progress toward improvements in the county without wasting the taxpayers money. It is very important to manage the budget, not letting it get out of hand. Money must be budgeted for equipment, vehicles, and building maintenance annually, and all income and expenses are monitored monthly. I would appreciate voter support on August 2, 2016.
