What do you see as the county commission's role in economic development in Perry County?

The Commissions responsible to ensure that the county is run efficiently so that it partners well with all local business and it attracts new business opportunities as they arise. The commission ensures that the county tax dollars are spent wisely to meet the needs of the citizens and business owners. The commission needs to be a partner with the Economic Devt. Authority to ensure Perry County is seen as a prime location for growth.

What are the major challenges facing Perry County?

Perry County has a lot of things to be proud of like the low unemployment rate, the recent announcement of the new Ranken's campus. However, just like all county's we have challenges of balancing the county budgets vs keeping up with the Court House / road maintenance needs. It is also a challenge to ensure that the Sheriff department needs are met due to the increased homeland security risk of our country.

What in your background or education makes you qualified to be Perry County commissioner?

I've successfully ran 2 local business for over 20 years, one of which is a 5th generation business. This experience has allowed me to understand the importance of listening to your customer, creating and balancing a budget and motivating employees to achieve their goals. I feel that one of the key objectives of the County Commission is to run Perry County the same as you would a successful business. This would be my approach.

Closing remarks

I would appreciate the opportunity to put my skills and leadership toward serving the citizens of Perry County as the District 1 County Commissioner. I respectfully ask for your vote on Aug 2nd.
