Former Jackson, MO, resident and author Cindy McDermott will be hosting a book launch for her second book, “The Relatives,” on Saturday, July 2, from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wibs Drive-In, 1204 North High St, Jackson, MO. McDermott will be holding the signing in the Wib’s parking lot.

“I can’t think of a better combination than picking up a good book and then enjoying a great sandwich at Wibs,” she shared. “I’ll have copies of all of my books available and ask that my many friends and family stop by.”

McDermott published "The Relatives" in May. She describes it as humorous fiction with a bit of romance and mystery.

“The main character travels home to help her parents with the potential sale of the family farm to developers. But she uncovers some unscrupulous people, even her own siblings, pushing them to sell,” revealed McDermott. “At every turn, she uncovers yet another layer of backwoods silliness, designed to outwit her and her parents. In the end, she discovers a lot about herself and what’s ahead in the next stage of her life.”

Not only is she holding this signing, McDermott is also offering a way to tie together visual technology and reading a book. She calls it “Digital Meet and Greet” with the author.

To reach out and connect with her readers, she'll offer 20-minute discussions about her new paperback for book club members across the United States using Skype or FaceTime. With Digital Meet and Greet, readers can engage with McDermott even though they’re hundreds of miles apart.

"So many times I've wanted to ask an author that I was reading about a particular point in the book," she said. "Digital Meet and Greet gives readers the chance to connect with me and ask those kinds of questions.”

To arrange a Digital Meet and Greet, ten books must be purchased by a club or an individual. Then an email request can be sent to arrange the gathering. Details are on McDermott's website: www.cindymcdermott.com. Go to the Appearances page, scroll down to the Digital Meet and Greet and fill out a request. Requests must be received by July 30, 2016.

You can order ebooks or printed copies at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, iBooks, KOBO and Smashwords. Details and links are on her website.

McDermott grew up on a farm near Gordonville, MO, and graduated from Jackson High School.
