CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Athletics has received a $5,000 donation from the Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club to support facility improvements at the Holcomb Success Center.

Clint Karnes, president of the Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club, presented the gift to Director of Athletics Brady Barke at a luncheon hosted by the Department of Athletics inside the recently renovated weight room.

"Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club is proud to make a donation in honor of all the past and current Lions who are steadfast supporters of Redhawks Athletics," said Karnes.

The gift from the Noon Lions Club will provide funding for future facility improvements at the Holcomb Success Center, which currently houses the weight room and academic services for Redhawk Division I student-athletes. Sports medicine will relocate into the building later this summer.

Planned improvements to the Holcomb Success Center include a renovated space for computer lab work terminals and study hall space, new equipment and renovations to the future sports medicine space, and development of an athletic nutrition center. The upgraded spaces will provide student-athletes a centralized location for athletic and academic development and support services.

"I would like to sincerely thank the Noon Lions Club for their generous donation," said Barke. "This gift brings us another step closer towards much needed improvements within the Holcomb Success Center."
