Ozarks Writers League sponsors youth writing contest

The Ozarks Writers League is sponsoring a free writing contest for youth, ages 12-18. Cash prizes are 1st $25, 2nd $15, and 3rd $10.

Categories are:

#21 Fictional short story, any genre, any topic. Limit 2,000 words

#22 Poetry, 26-line limit

#23 Non-fiction article, any topic. Limit 2,000 words

Mail two copies of each entry in a large flat envelope by August 31 to: Diana West, Contest Chair, 108 Parkmor Rd, Joplin, MO 64801

Only one entry per category. All entries must be unpublished. If it appeared in a blog, website or other electronic outlet, it is considered published.

Double-space entries (except poetry single-spaced), using black ink, on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper.

Attach a 3" x 5" index card with a paperclip to each entry with the number and name of the category, title of the entry, and your name, address, phone, email, last grade completed, and school attended. Do not put your name anywhere else on the entry. No folding or stapling of manuscript.

Winners will be announced at the November 19 meeting of the Ozarks Writers League, which meets in Branson, Mo. The group is composed of writers, artists, and illustrators who meet four times a year to encourage, inspire, and share ideas.
