Churches partner to raise funds for Red Star activity center

Red Star Baptist Church has provided many ministries to the area, including a food pantry, Red Star Clothes Closet and youth programs. The ministries have touched countless individuals.

With the New Year's flooding in the area, the church's activity center has been damaged. This facility is where many of the ministries take place for Red Star.

Tonight the community will join forces to raise funds for the activity center renovations needed. Volunteers from local churches have partnered to sponsor a fish and chicken fry from 4 to 8 p.m. at Red Star Baptist Church. The cost to attend is $10 for adults, and for children 6 and younger the cost is $6. According to a recent Southeast Missourian story, more than 200 tickets have been sold. More will be available at the door.

Along with the dinner there will be an auction.

Churches involved include Centenary United Methodist Church, La Croix United Methodist Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Lynwood Baptist Church, St. Mary Cathedral and Cape First.

Thank you to the volunteers and each of the churches for the partnership. It's wonderful to see different denominations coming together to support another church and it's ministries that show the love of Jesus to others. Consider how you can help this project.
