Perryville Municipal Judge: Zachary S. Rozier

Age: 27 years old, I will be turning 28 the day after the election, April 6, 2016.

Place of birth: I was born in Festus, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. I grew up in Perryville, Missouri. I have only been away from my fair city in order to obtain my Juris Doctorate.

Spouse, children's names:

I am unmarried with no children. I have been dating Kala Bohnert, daughter of Jerry and Mary Bohnert, for the past 7 years. We currently have plans for a winter wedding.

Occupation: Attorney-at-Law

Employer: Arbeiter Law Offices, formerly Arbeiter and Brewer Law Offices.

Businesses owned, all or part: None.

Previous offices held or sought:

This is my first attempt at elected office. If the Great Citizens of Perryville will allow, I hope to continue serving them for decades to come.

Do you currently hold the office for which you are running? No

What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

The Municipal Court handles city ordinance violations. I have been practicing in these areas daily since my acceptance into the Missouri and Illinois Bar. My grandfather, Leo Rozier, was able to practice law until 94 years of age. Sadly, the State of Missouri will not allow a Municipal Judge to hold office the moment he turns 75. Unlike my opponent I will be able to continue serving the citizens of Perryville for decades to come.

Where do you believe the most improvements, if any, should be made to the municipal court?

Our court system has gone through an overhaul. The criminal code revision of 2017 and SB 5, in many aspects has changed the municipal courts. These changes were brought on due to sitting judges, and other elected officials, focusing on obtaining revenue and unfairly applying rules to varying Defendants. These improvements, although well in hand, require new judges who are not bound by what they did “in the good old days.”
