Halloween Candy Buy Back Supports Troops

Dentists Drs. Patrick & Janet Ruopp of Cape Girardeau, MO are once again joining forces with Operation Gratitude to send care packages to our troops stationed abroad.

During their Halloween Candy Buy Back from 2:30-5:30 PM on Monday, November 2, 2015, Drs. Ruopp will pay children $1.00 per pound for their extra Halloween candy.

"This campaign is really a WIN-WIN! We get to limit the intake of all that sugar from Halloween candy and support our troops with a little taste of home," explains Dr. Ruopp.

The dental office has collected hundreds of pounds of candy over the years--all of which they ship to the non-profit organization, Operation Gratitude. Once received, Operation Gratitude combines contributions to compile individual care packages for troops stationed abroad. Since its inception after 9/11, Operation Gratitude has shipped over 1 million care packages--some even include huge corporate prizes like keys to a brand new car! The organization has a wish list of items needed online; this is more than just Halloween candy!

Operation Gratitude collects handmade scarves, hats, cool ties (easy to make cooling bandanas), specific personal hygiene items, letters/cards supporting our troops, and much more. This year, Ruopp & Ruopp DDS is hoping to add some of these items to the care packages they ship next month. If you'd like to help, donations will be collected at Ruopp & Ruopp DDS PC at 1818 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, MO now through noon on November 12th. This deadline allows collected items to be included in this year's holiday packages to the troops.
