Lutheran World Relief held an ingathering at Saxony Lutheran High School

Nicolette Baker and Jade Samanta, Saxony Lutheran High School Students help with LWR ingathering.

Lutheran World Relief is a non-profit organization that works with local partners to provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. Their goal is to help communities cope with and recover from emergencies in ways that promote lasting improvements in people's living conditions. The ingathering included quilts, layettes, sewing, health, and school kits.

The Southeast Missouri ingathering was coordinated by the Missouri District Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Mission Servant Committee. With the help of Saxony Lutheran High School students, ingathering items were loaded onto a truck to be taken to St. Louis later this month. Total ingathering items collected at the southeast Missouri site included 328 quilts, 21 school kits, 23 sewing kits and 150 layettes. A Fall 2016 ingathering is being planned.

In 2015, these gifts of love reached out to people all over the world. They went to people working to recover from an earthquake in Nepal. They comforted families fleeing conflict in Syria, living in refugee camps in Thailand and people around the world working to break out of the cycle of chronic poverty.

Thank you! Your generous gifts of Quilts and Kits help to ensure that LWR is able to respond to the continuing need.

Specific assembly guidelines for the projects are available online at lwr.org/kits or by requesting a free Quilt & Kit Ministry Guide at lwr.org/resources or 800.597.5972.
