Dance for a Cause: MS Awareness Dance Competition on October 3, 2015

Seeking dancers and spectators to support cutting-edge research and life-changing programs and services for people living with MS at the First Annual Dance for a Cause: MS Awareness Dance Competition taking place on October 3rd at Southeast Missouri State University (North Rec Center) from 2 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. This is an opportunity for people living with MS and those who care about them to connect and join together to be inspired and raise critical funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Micheal Curry, founder and President of the Fingerprint Dance Community at Southeast Missouri State University. This on-campus organization is a dance based organization that focuses on a sense of community for all dancers on campus. This year Fingerprint has put together a charity dance competition to help raise money for the National MS Society to help spread MS Awareness.

This event isn't just a normal fundraising event, but more like a living personal testimony Micheal and his fight against multiple sclerosis. His freshmen year of college he was expected to play football for SEMO, but the summer before he went to college he was told that he might have multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body . The day of his football physical he mentioned that he might have MS and was told that having MS makes him a liability to the team.

November 2103, Michael received confirmation that he indeed has MS. Since his diagnosis, dance has become his passion and has since changed his major to dance. Micheal hopes that this event attracts friends and families of people affected by MS, people living with MS, students, corporations, and individuals who want to help end MS forever.
