Art Academy Exhibit 2015

Student art works from the Art Academy , Art Reach, and Painting with the Elderly workshops will be on display at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 North Main Street, August 7- 29, 2015 with an opening reception on First Friday, August 7th from 5- 9 p.m. The Art Council is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10 a.m. -- 4 p.m.

The Art Academy summer workshops are engaging and creative experiences in a wide variety of media for ages 6- adult held in the Southeast Missouri State University's Art Department's art studios. Art Reach sessions are afterschool art programs designed to build relationships empowering underserved students ages 6- 15 held at four different locations in the community. Painting with the Elderly are exploratory painting workshops held at five retirement centers.

This year's exhibit of approximately 300 artworks will include ceramics, felted and mixed media sculptures, gelli, foam, and lithography prints, watercolor and acrylic paintings, collages, and drawings. In addition, collaborative sculptures, a mosaic mural, and two Joy Quilts will be on display. Following the exhibit, the mosaic mural will be donated to The Bridge and the Joy Quilts will be donated to the Women's Safe House.
