Homecomers represents slice of Americana

It's hard to believe it's almost that time of year again, but it is -- time for the annual Jackson Homecomers festivities.

From Tuesday through Saturday, the city will be a carnival of sights and sounds, from the semi-exotic to the down-home and familiar.

This year's 107th Bicentennial Homecomers schedule includes municipal band performances, rides, food, gospel singing, drawings for attendance prizes, a talent show and much more.

Known to attract thousands, this is an event worth checking out, whether you live in Jackson proper or hail from surrounding communities. Although uniquely itself, Homecomers exists somewhere between Fourth of July fervor and the kickoff to the region's fall fair and carnival season and is a great excuse to keep on celebrating life.

We hope you and your family members will have a chance to stop by and experience this slice of Americana.
