'House Hunters' Show to Feature Southeast Hospital's Lauren Grammer

House hunting can be stressful. Add in a film crew covering your every move, and it can be nerve-wracking. But Medical Telemetry registered nurse Lauren Grammer and her husband Travis took it all in stride even as they disagreed over the type of house to buy.

Their house hunting will play out on HGTV's "House Hunters" in an episode that is scheduled to air on Thursday, June 18, at 9 p.m.

'Anxious to Watch It'

Lauren says she and her family -- including her parents and SoutheastHEALTH employees Mark and Lisa Dambach -- can't wait to see the episode. "Everybody is really anxious to watch it."

The episode was filmed last fall. The filming -- the first ever for "House Hunters" in the Cape area -- occurred over the course of five days spread out across several weeks. The film crew shot some of the establishing scenes on a late October Saturday on the Medical Telemetry floor. Lauren was filmed with some of her co-workers. Even gastroenterologist Brent Keller, DO, ended up in one of the shots next to the nurse's stations.

The crew also filmed Lauren and Travis on a "date night" at a local winery. "It was interesting," she says with a laugh.

Lauren says she's received some good-natured kidding from some of her friends and co-workers over her starring role.

Lauren credits their realtor, Elaine Edgar, with their appearance on "House Hunters." Lauren notes that she and her husband's differing wish-lists for a home prompted their realtor to recommend them for the documentary-style show.

'One in a Million'

"She just loved how we interacted," recalls Lauren, who never expected to be featured on the show. "It was like a one-in-a million thing," she adds.

The couple, who were renting in downtown Cape Girardeau at the time, wanted to move with their young daughter Emma to a less busy neighborhood in the Cape or Jackson area.

They spent months looking at various houses before narrowing the list to three. The production crew filmed them visiting those three houses.

Lauren says she and her husband aired their differing views of those houses on camera. Elaine, the realtor, helped keep the peace. "She was our buffer," Lauren notes.

'The Crew Made It Fun'

The entire experience proved to be a joy, she says. "I think the crew made it fun," she adds. "We were cutting up all the time."

She says they ate lunch and dinner with the crew members during the filming. Lauren says she now keeps up with crew members on Facebook.

For Lauren and Travis, the house hunting had a happy ending. Lauren says she and Travis ended up finding just the right home in Jackson.
