Recognizing volunteers

April is often associated with volunteerism. The Points of Light organization celebrates National Volunteer Week every year in April, and many organizations have volunteer recognition events throughout the month. We want to use this opportunity to remind folks how important volunteering is to the overall health and well-being of our community and to thank our United Way volunteers for all they do.

We celebrate our 25-member board of directors for the time they devote to our work, helping to guide us in the right direction. We celebrate our 200-plus Read to Succeed volunteers for providing our youngest students with a solid foundation of good reading skills that will carry them through life. We celebrate our 40-plus Navigators who work with adult students to attain their high school equivalency and help them navigate next steps. We celebrate our Campaign Ambassadors who work alongside of us each fall to spread the good word of United Way's work through our workforce. And we celebrate all of those that serve on committees and help us plan and execute events.

Volunteers make a real difference in our community every single day. We thank them all for their service and compassion.
