Area Celebrates 25th Annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive

Bollinger County invites you to visit our beautiful area for the 25th Annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive on April 24-26, 2015. The events include outdoor recreation, food, history, dinosaurs, beautiful scenery, and lawnmower races. Brochures are available at the chamber office at 207 Mayfield Drive, Marble Hill MO. Hours of events varies by venue.

Participants include:

The Mustard Seed Boutique with Apple and Cherry Fried Pies all day during the drive, unique gift collections, homemade jellies and jams, local honey, gourmet chocolate bars, girls clothing line, and more.10am-5pm

Massey Log House with self-guided tours of the four-pen log structure that is filled with many historical items of everyday life from the era.9am-5pm

The Mayfield Cultural Center opens in the former Will Mayfield Administration College building. They will be hosting special events including free tours of historical schoolhouse and chapel with a short film and exhibit on the school's history. The center was once home to the Mayfield Smith Academy and the Will Mayfield College. Open 10am-5pm April 24-26.

Whippoorwill Lake with drive by of the 200 year old Lee cabin, swimming, trails, rustic cabins, sandy beaches, horseback riding, camping, fishing, and various other scheduled events. Come tour the campground.

Lawn Mower Races sponsored by the Patton Lions Club at the Patton Saddle Club on April 25. Gates open at 4:00pm

Major League Baseball Pitch/Hit/Run Competition sponsored by the Marble Hill Optimists on April 25 at 10am at the Marble Hill Ball Park.

Bollinger County Museum of Natural History

Visit the Bollinger County Museum of Natural History during the 25th Annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive on April 24, 25, and 26, 2015. Home of the Missouri Dinosaur. See dinosaur fossils and replicas, fossils from Missouri and around the world, Civil War, Native American, Ice Age, regional history, and more. Children of all ages have fun in the Discover and Explore area where they can be a paleontologist and uncover "dinosaur bones" in our replica dinosaur dig, make rubbings, puzzles, and other activities.

There will be a Special Civil War program at the Bollinger County Museum on Saturday, April 25.

Civil War historian and lecturer Clint Lacy will present a program on "Post-War Missouri - Life after the Civil War" at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 25 only.

Tour the museum for the spring scenic drive on Friday, April 24 from Noon (12:00PM) - 4:30PM,

Saturday, April 25 from 10:00AM - 5:00PM, and Sunday, April 26 from Noon - 4:30PM

Regular admission will allow you all the extra activities of the day at the museum.

Bollinger County Recycling Center will hold a recycling event on April 25 during the scenic drive at three locations. Please stop by with all your recyclables to help keep our county clean.

Bring your Clean recyclables to one of the locations below. Start saving now:

*Paper (junk mail, magazines & catalogs, newspaper, office paper).
*Flattened Cardboard and Greyboard (cereal-type boxes).
*Plastics (#1-#7, including plastic bags). No lids unless they have a recycling #.

Separate colored #2's (soap bottles) from "neutral" #2's (milk jugs).

*Metal (steel food cans, aluminum cans & pie plates).
