St. John's Lutheran Church to Host Blessing of the Bikes

St. John's Lutheran Church 158 Little Street, Pocahontas, Missouri will host a Blessing of the Bikes event, Sunday, May 17, 2015. The day's schedule of events includes a worship service at 10:00 am., a General Blessing of the bikes at 11:00 am., followed by individual blessings. Free lunch will be provided at 12:00 noon, including brats donated by Reis Meats of Pocahontas.

Prizes, consisting of motorcycle items donated by Ford's Custom Bikes, will be awarded, and a raffle for a 17 HMR Savage Rifle will be conducted. Raffle tickets for the rifle are $10 each or three for $20. Persons must be 18 years of age and a Missouri citizen to participate in the gun raffle. Bike specific parking will be available. Please watch for signs designating parking for vehicles other than bikes.

Pocahontas is a small community of less than 200 citizens and is located in the beautiful Mississippi River hills region of Southeast Missouri. Easy access from the south can be made taking Fruitland exit 105 to Hwy 61. Travel north 2.8 miles to Hwy C, then 2 miles to Pocahontas. Bikers turn right on county road 532 and immediately turn left on Little Street. Visitors from the north take Interstate 55 to Oak Ridge exit 111, then east 2 miles to Hwy 61. Cross 61 to county road 530, then 2 miles to Pocahontas.

St. John's Lutheran Church has been a vital part of the Pocahontas community since 1868, and continues to believe that as Christians they are called to share God's saving grace in Jesus Christ with their community and the world. All visitors are welcome, bikers as well as non-bikers.
