Street repairs ramping up in Cape; be safe

A sure spring sign, construction work has already begun in Cape Girardeau.

After a rough winter with lots of snow and precipitation, our roads are guaranteed to be in less than perfect shape. The freezing and thawing creates potholes, and we have our fair share. The bumpy commutes are a common theme everywhere.

So the city will be busy fixing those problems, according to a recent report by Samantha Rinehart.

Concrete street repairs will take place in more than 50 locations over the next few months. The city appropriated $350,000 for street repairs in the first half of 2015, according to Rinehart's article.

The city keeps an eye out for pothole problems, but it welcomes feedback from the public as well.

Potholes can be reported by visiting cityofcapegirardeau.org/reportproblem or by calling 339-6351.

Please be patient when driving through the work zones. Be respectful, and safe, when navigating around those men in orange.
