A Devine Intervention

On this day 67 years ago I was born at SE Missouri Hospital,

it seems as though I was about 3 months premature. As I have

been told I weighed only 3 pounds 8 ounces. I was immediately rushed to the NeoNatal Care Unit as it is called

in todays terms. I was placed in an incubator and was there for 1 to 3 months, I lost weight down to 1 pound 8 ounces and my parents were told that I probably would not survive.

Well with the Devine Intervention and the Skilled Help of all the Doctors and Nurses at SE Hospital I did survive.

When I was starting to learn to walk, my mom noticed one

day that every time I would try to stand up with the help

of the knobs on a dresser my legs would not hold me up.

She stated that she just thought it was natural for a while and then after a couple of hours of trying to stand up, my legs were not able to hold my weight. She immediatly called

her husband and they took me to the hospital again, this time it was also very serious, for I had contracted Polio somehow and my left leg was completely paralized. Now can you imagine the task of the Doctors and Nurses trying to teach me how to learn to walk being a little over a year old

and having one leg that did not work. I don't know how they

managed such a task, but I am now 67 years old on this day,

March 11th, 2015. I still walk with a slight limp when I am tired and I seem to get along pretty well. I did all the things a normal kid did as they were growing up, I played baseball, basketball, football and I was on the track team

in college.

The first thing that I remember as a kid was riding my tricycle to town in Illmo, Missouri and as I remember I would always stop at the Drug Store and get a Cherry Coke and a Zero Candy Bar ( they were big back then) , then I would go to the neighborhood grocery and they would give me the little wax coke bottles with the suryp in them. I guess that was the extent of my day as I can remember.

I am very thankful to my parents who are now deceased and to

to Fantastic Doctors and Nurses at SE Hospital and I Thank God Each Day. I wish there were some of the Doctors and Nurses still around that might remember this so I could Thank Them. We always seem to feel sorry for ourselves and all we have to do is to look around us and there seems to always be someone with something worse than what we may have, just be Thankful and help those you can !

I now live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma have a Beautiful Loving Wife, One Daughter, A Great Son In Law and 2 Beautiful Grandchildren thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at SE Hospital and the intervention of God Himself.

Sincerely,

Jeff Davidson
