Catholic Social Ministries Purchases Truck

The Catholic Social Ministries recently purchased a truck for their food pantry from private donations.

St. Mary's / Old St. Vincent's Catholic Social Ministries recently purchased a truck to help with the day to day operations of their food pantry in Cape Girardeau. The truck was purchased entirely with private donations from generous individuals and businesses in the community. It will be used to pick up food purchased from the Southeast Missouri Food Bank in Sikeston and other food sources in the area. "It has already made a huge impact on our operations, allowing us to be much more effective and efficient in acquiring food for distribution to those in need in our area", said Jim Keusenkothen, Pastoral Minister at St. Mary Cathedral who oversees the food pantry. The food pantry serves an average of 688 families each month, with 1947 individuals in those families. They are located at the corner of Sprigg and William Street in Cape and are open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM except for the last full week of each month. Keusenkothen says that the pantry is staffed completely with volunteers. "These are some of the finest people you would ever want to be around. They just continue to show up and work, being completely unselfish and giving of their time because they believe in helping those who are in need. This can also be said of the donors who helped us purchase this truck. It is truly uplifting."
