Field at Shawnee Park Sports Complex Dedicated

Only two of Parks and Recreation's more than 35 city-wide sports fields have been dedicated to a specific person or contributor. Softball field number one at the Shawnee Park Sports Complex was dedicated to the late Cary Flanagan.

In recognition for their many contributions to the department, programs, and sports leagues in Cape Girardeau, the Cape Noon Optimist Club received on Sept. 17 the distinction of being the second to receive a field dedication in their honor (field 13).

The Cape Noon Optimist Club has financially supported and sponsored several recreation programs and activities in the past 25+ years to support the youth in our community (baseball, SMASH volleyball, soccer, Breakfast with Santa, Cape Youth Tackle Football, Special Olympics).
