Social Advocacy Expert to be in Cape on Friday

The Cape Girardeau Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will host Helio Fred Garcia on Friday, September 12, for "Standing on the Side of Love and Effective Use of Social Advocacy." Mr. Garcia has taught crisis management at NYU for 25 years. He is executive director of the Logos Institute for Crisis Management & Executive Leadership, and is a board of trustees member of the Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, CA, the Interfaith Alliance Foundation in Washington, DC., the World Conference of Religions for Peace, and the New York-based human rights organization Freedom to Marry. He is also on the the Advisory Board of The Banyan Project, a group of senior journalists, technologists, researchers, and strategists working for a stronger democracy.

The event will take place at the U.U.F. site, 200 N. Broadway at the end of Spanish St., rear door. A potluck supper will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by the talk and discussion at 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Hamner Hill, 339-0575.
