On Aug. 22-29, I have the honor of representing our great state of Missouri as I compete for the title of Mrs. America in Tucson, Arizona. As part of the competition, I will promote my platform of women's empowerment, and I will also highlight an important part of Missouri agriculture. Showcasing the resources of our city, state and citizens on a national level is a responsibility that I carry with excitement and pride.

Preliminaries will be held on Wednesday, and the final competition is on Aug. 29. If you would like to watch the show, then please visit www.mrsamerica.com for live streaming information. I will be also be documenting my experiences at www.facebook.com/Mrs.MissouriAmerica and www.twitter.com/erinrfw if you want to follow along and cheer from home.

My journey up to this point has been deeply inspiring, truly educational, and incredibly fun. I wish to extend an enormous thank you to all of the awesome people, organizations and businesses in the state of Missouri -- particularly right here in the Cape Girardeau region -- for your generosity, friendship and support. You make Missouri a fantastic place to live, work and play!

DR. ERIN R. FLUEGGE-WOOLF,
