Revving up for the Corvette Caravan

In a couple of weeks we'll be able to see hundreds of Corvettes and hear that special purr of the engine. The Corvette Caravan will make its first visit to Cape Girardeau as the group travels to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Tuesday, Aug. 26 is the date when the enthusiasts roll into Cape Girardeau. There will be events along Main Street to mark the visit. The Corvettes and their owners are expected to be here by 5:30 p.m. and will travel from Capaha Park down Broadway to Main Street. The events will begin between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Organizers say they have worked to make this a family-friendly affair.

This is not the first car event to come to town. Past occasions have brought local people out to see classic cars and enjoy the atmosphere. The community hospitality certainly plays a role in making these positive experiences for visitors.

The Corvette Caravan takes place every five years, and those behind it locally are hoping the experience is a good one and encourages the group to return.

Consider joining the fun on Aug. 26. This looks like a wonderful event with plenty to do and see.

Thank you to all those who helped bring the caravan to town.
