Eagle on Sherwood Drive

ME THINKS ITS A RED TAIL HAWK....NOT AN EAGLE FER SHER

Yep. Red Tailed Hawk

Looks more like a hawk. Just north of Sherwood and off Perryville Rd there is a family of Mississippi Kites nested. Smaller hawk-like bird. Adults about 12" and darker gray bodies with light gray heads and breast. 3 juveniles just learned to fly last week and now learning to hunt. They have speckled brown/white breast and white banding on tail. They screech or whistle like a hawk and can hover gracefully. Have had all 3 juveniles in my yard at same time.
