Garden walkway support

On June 4, the Cape Girardeau Council of Garden Clubs, composed of the Four Seasons, Ramblewood and Rose Hills Garden Clubs, dedicated the Walkway of Honor in the Capaha Park Rose Garden. This dedication highlighted a five-year Rose Garden improvement project which included a new arbor, an irrigation system, an improved water shed and frost-free hydrants, electricity, new roses and rose bed frames, benches and the new Walkway of Honor throughout the garden, edged with granite pavers. Our goal was to make our city's Rose Garden handicapped accessible and a place of beauty, peace and joy.

We say thank you to the many people and businesses who have helped and supported these improvement beginning in 2008. Thank you to our "Friends of the Rose Garden," the previous Cape Girardeau parks and recreation director Dan Muser, the current director Julia Thompson, parks division manager Brock Davis and the staff who installed the walkway: Jerry Houchins, Mike Dickey, Gary Burke, Kevin Weber, Adam Howell, Mike Evans, Derek DeSpain, Tim Maynard and Brandon Dietiker.

Also, thank you to Byron Foust, Champion Irrigation, the Ford Family at Ford and Sons Funeral Home, the Rust family and the Bryan Family, the Master Gardeners, Rentaland and Kenco for their support and assistance in these improvement projects.
