Local teens elected to Missouri State 4-H Council

Nathan Aufdenberg, Cape Girardeau, Shantaria Bigham, Sikeston, Aaron Birk, Charleston, Jordan Collins, Benton, and Anna Roth, Perryville, recently returned from Columbia where they were elected as Southeast Regional Representatives to the Missouri State 4-H Council.

Bridget Schumer of Perryville was selected as a trustee of the Missouri 4-H Foundation and will serve as a member of the Executive State 4-H Council. The election took place as part of the 69th annual State 4-H Congress May 28 to 30, which was attended by 294 Missouri teens.

The State 4-H Council is a group of teens who represent the voice of Missouri 4-H'ers, providing youth input on policy issues and playing a major role in the statewide 4-H events of MU Extension. Over 22,000 Missouri children and youth participate in 4-H clubs, and over 276,000 were reached by Missouri 4-H programs in 2012.

Nathan and Bridget are members of Cape Girardeau County 4-H, Aaron and Jordan are members of Scott County 4-H, Anna is a member of Perry County 4-H, and Shantaria is representing Lincoln University.
