Class of 2014 honored at PHS Profiles in Excellence

The annual Profiles In Excellence banquet at Perryville High School recognizes the efforts of graduating seniors. School and department awards are announced, as well as scholarships. The PHS Class of 2014's valedictorian was Jaret Kluender and salutatorian was Alexis Weisbrod.

The Top Ten Honor Medallions, for the students graduating at the top of the class, were presented to Kluender, Weisbrod, Michaela Cavins, Lauren Childers, Cody Crawford, Justin Gross, Beth Heise, Caley Hennemann, Whitnie Petzoldt and Kelsey Winschel.

Four graduates earned the Bright Flight Scholarship -- Jaret Kluender, Bailey Post, Cody Crawford and Trenton Green. The Bright Flight Scholarship is awarded students who score among the top 3 percent of students taking the ACT or SAT.

University scholarships presented at Profiles In Excellence included Lauren Childers, Freshman Merit at Evangel University in Springfield; Colin Schirmer, A+, Dean's and Housing at Fontbonne University in St. Louis; Johnathan Pruiett, Greenville College and Dean's at Greenville College in Greenville, Ill.; Jaret Kluender, College of Agriculture and Midwest Student Exchange at Kansas State University in Mahattan, Kan.; Amiee More, Leadership at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapdis, Iowa; Kennedy Murakami, Acadmic at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Caley Hennemann, Cheerleading and Residence at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis; Trenton Green, Academic and Baseball at Missouri Science and Technology University in Rolla; Paige Flentge and Miranda House, Beauty Changes Lives at National Academy of Beauty Arts in St. Louis; Cody Crawford, President's at Ranken Technical College in St. Louis; Juan Hernandez, Athletic at St. Louis Community College in St. Louis; Thomas Walker, Billikens at St. Louis University in St. Louis; Grant Dix, Baseball at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, Tenn; Kelcie Fahnestock, Softball at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff; Justin Gross, Curator's and Music at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Southeast Missouri State University scholarship recipients include Whitnie Petzoldt, Brooke Picou, Zachary Meyer, Michaela Cavins, Kaylie Hadler, Megan Craft and Christian Gray with the University Scholarship; Kaitlyn White, Alexis Weisbrod and Beth Heise with the Regent's Scholarship; Nathan Richardet with the President's Scholarship and Merit Housing Award; Megan Craft with the Jane C. Stacey Scholarship; and Jessica Vernon, Ashley Roy and Mollie Bachmann with the Residence Life Scholarship.

The President's Award for Educational Excellence was presented to Lauren Childers, Cody Crawford, Trenton Green, Justin Gross, Beth Heise, Breanna Horneker, Jaret Kluender, Zachary Meyer, Kennedy Murakami, Alexis Weisbrod, Kaitlyn White and Matthew Williams.

Amiee More was honored for having perfect attendance all four years of high school. More, Jaret Kluender and Renee Lintner recorded perfect attendance their senior year.

Allison Moldenhauer earned the Coach Frentzel Award for outstanding female athlete and Trenton Green earned the Coach Pickle Award for outstanding male athlete. Cody Crawford and Michaela Cavins earned the US Army Reserve Scholar Athlete Awards.

The George Washington Carver Award was presented to 19 seniors. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education invites public school officials to honor Missouri's outstanding high school seniors by presenting them with the George Washington Carver Award. This recognition can be given to the top 10 percent of each high school's graduating class. The Class of 2014 recipients were Desiree Brown, Michaela Cavins, Lauren Childers, Cody Crawford, Trenton Green, Justin Gross, Kaylie Hadler, Beth Heise, Caley Hennemann, Breanna Horneker, Jaret Kluender, Emily Kuehn, Makenda Lukefahr, Zachary Meyer, Kennedy Murakami, Whitnie Petzoldt, Alexis Weisbrod, Kaitlyn White, and Kelsey Winschel.

The Jefferson County Athletic Association Academic Award was presented to Spencer Bachmann, Tyler Bohnert, Michaela Cavins, Megan Craft, Cody Crawford, Cheyenne Davis, Kelsie Fahnestock, Trenton Green, Kaylie Hadler, Caley Hennemann, Mikayla Krauss, Chloe Laws, Jessalyn Layton, Jacy Lukefahr, Makenda Lukefahr, Amiee Moore, Kennedy Murakami, Corby Renaud and Korrin Tilley.

Class awards presented at Perryville Area Career Center include Jacob Orman in Auto Collision Repair II, Jared Krauss in Construction Technology II, Cody Crawford in Computer Maintenance II, Alissa Oettle-McGraw in Graphic Design II, Lauren Stueve in Health Occupations, Austyn Konarcik in Digial Media II, Dylan Triller in Welding II, Kelcie Fahnestock in Horticulture, Mercedes Camden in Landscape Design, Dylan Stueve in Ag Construction, Travis Wood in Ag Structures and Jessalyn Layton in Business Marketing.
