FBLA attended 2014 Missouri FBLA Leadership Conference

Members of the Cape Central Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter recently attended the 2014 Missouri FBLA Leadership Conference held on April 13th, 14th, and 15th in Columbia, Missouri.

FBLA is a career and technical student organization for all high school students participating in business programs. Over 3,760 members and advisers representing 450 chapters throughout the state met to elect state officers, transact business of the state chapter, participate in leadership and career workshops, and compete in the state leadership awards program. The 2014 conference was the largest conference in the event's 56 year history and the largest state conference in the nation.

Delegates representing Cape Central in the state competitive leadership awards program were: Josh Greaser in Job Interview and Economics; Reed Dickson in Business Math and Intro to Business Communications; Alex Mehner in Personal Finance and Business Procedures; Brent Tiemann in Business Math; Aaron Mehner in Future Business Leader; Emily Diamond in Public Speaking and Business Communications; Brad Orenstein in Computer Problem Solving; Megan Westcott in Intro to Business Communications; Tyrus Ayers in Health Care Administration; and Tyler Myers in Accounting.

Aaron Mehner took 5th in FBLA Who's Who in Missouri. He was nominated by his adviser, Mrs. Taylor. In addition, Josh Greaser was recognized as Outstanding Chapter Member.

Theresa Taylor, the local adviser for the past twelve years, accompanied the students to the conference. She says "as always, I was extremely proud of all these kids. They are a wonderful group of future leaders and they make the future look bright."
