What is the most important issue facing the Kelly School District? What can be done about it?

Currently the most important issue facing the district is to keep the district financially sound to maintain the best learning environment for our students. Our current building project to expand facilities as well as our competitive employee salaries make our school one of the best in the area.

What in your background or education makes you qualified for this office?

1987 graduate of Kelly High School, B.S. in Ag University of Missouri. I have experience in the local community as a 4H club leader for many years. I enjoy working to bring quality educational opportunities to area children and families. I have served on the Kelly school board for the past 6 years and am currently the Treasurer. I look forward to continuing to serve the community, students, parents, faculty and staff.

Where do you stand on the issue of Common Core standards?

Goals and standards are important for our students but some of the Common Core materials that I have seen are concerning. The school board needs to continue to stay informed on curriculum and make sure it is effective for the students and the teachers. The district also needs to continue to be open to ideas and input from parents, teachers and staff.

Do you think the Kelly School District is a good place for teachers to work? Why or why not?

I believe the Kelly District is a very good place for teachers to work. The facilities are nice, the administration, teachers and staff are friendly & respectful; and the atmosphere is positive and professional. There are also opportunities for advancement and lots of great extra curricular activities to be involved in.
