Cape County Tea Party Monthly Meeting

PRESS RELEASE

CAPE COUNTY TEA PARTY

MONTHLY MEETING

On February 18th, 2014 at 6:30pm, the Cape County Tea Party (CCTP) will hold its open monthly meeting at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. The meeting is called the Third Tuesday Tea Time and is held on the Third Tuesday of each month to continue the work to complete our Mission as stated below.

Emergency Preparedness:

Wes Medler of Crisis Food Source in Cape Girardeau will join us this month to discuss Emergency Preparedness and display some of the items he has available for various emergency situations should they occur. The Crisis Food Source carries/sells such items as 72-Hour Emergency Packs (food, shelter, etc), Solar/Gas Power Generators, Water Filtering Equipment, Heirloom Seeds and much more.

Guiding Our Representatives:

The MO Legislature has been filing, co-signing, holding hearings, supporting, opposing, and passing legislation since early January after being sworn in.

Are you interested in guiding their votes?

At our January TTTT, we spent our meeting reviewing all our local legislators' bills along with other prominent bills and giving our consensus (or vote) for supporting or opposing the bill. It was such an enjoyable activity that folks have asked us to do it again... ...so we will.

For our February meeting, we will again split up into groups, review pending legislation, and quickly try to come to a consensus (or take a vote) to guide them in supporting or opposing the bill in the Missouri House and Senate. The focus again will be on our local legislators' bills plus other prominent bills.

Does the bill increase government or reduce government? Does it increase liberty or reduce freedom? Does it advance self-governance?

We hope such an activity will encourage some lively debate.

Time permitting, we will brainstorm on legislative ideas that we could forward to our representatives for consideration.
