Students put robots to the test

It's always fun to see students putting their learning into action.

There's no better example of this than the annual robotics competition, called the FIRST Technology Challenge, at the Show Me Center.

On Feb. 2, 46 high schools were represented as robotics teams but their robots to the test in a cage match of sorts. Teams design and build their remote-controlled gadgets to defeat other robots. It's a competition that puts the mind to work.

The teams spent countless hours over several months in the development of their robots.

Congratulations for all the teams who put their thoughts into action, and especially those who found success in the form of awards and advancement to the next round.

The next tournament is the state championship, which will be March 1 in Rolla.
