Best bet: Afternoon of dance in Jackson
Friday, February 7, 2014
The Jackson Community Outreach Board will host an afternoon of dancing Sunday as the city marks its bicentennial. All ages are invited to learn the history and the steps of eight different dances popular during various eras. The schedule is as follows: 2 p.m. waltz and polka, 3 p.m. mixer and contra dance, 4 p.m. swing and jitterbug and 5 p.m. cha-cha and swing. Admission is free and includes dance instruction, live music and refreshments. There is no registration; participants may arrive any time between 2 and 6 p.m., and groups are encouraged. Dance history and instruction will be provided by Mary Pensel and Dr. Marc Strauss. More information is available by contacting Janice Lumsden at 573-450-7867.
