St. Louis, MO: Hawthorn Physician Services Corporation announced today the appointment of Shelly Guffey-Bangert as Director, Revenue Cycle Management.

Hawthorn is a healthcare revenue cycle management company specialized to serve hospital-based and office-based physician practices. Hawthorn is currently contracted to process over 1.5 million claims by more than 200 physicians in nine states. In her role as director, Bangert will be responsible for all day-to-day operations and the performance of over 120 revenue management professionals and specialists.

Bangert brings to Hawthorn more than 20 years' experience in medical billing services, helping physicians optimize their financial results through sustained cash flow, improved liquidity, maximized reimbursements and reduced expenses. She is experienced in all areas of medical billing, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 code sets, current procedural terminology (CPT) coding, claim status inquiries, reports, analysis and compliance.

Shelly Bangert is a recognized expert in the healthcare industry and she has contributed articles to well-known associations and publications, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Healthcare Billing and Management Association (HBMA), the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), Health Management Technology and Healthcare Finance News. Immediately prior to joining Hawthorn, Shelly Bangert served as Manager, Premier Accounts and Vendor Partners at TriZetto Partner Solutions and Gateway EDI.
