Before Thanksgiving, students in Mrs. Mary Richardson's writing class at Perry County Middle School "plucked" random story parts from a turkey. The students with the top scores and the titles of their stories were (from left) Drew Schnurbusch, "Dummies Doing Dumb Dancing;" Brianna Tellez, "Stolen Candy;" Lacey Blake, "The Sunken School;" Abby Franklin, "Triple Turkey Trouble;" and Michelle Lin, "The Turfish That Terrified The Teachers." Students were scored on their writer's voice presentation, organization, word choice, incorporation of story parts, and the effective use of at least three types of of figurative language. "I was so impressed by the fiction stories these students created," Richardson said. "They excelled in the task assigned to them!"
