Downtown Cape, Jackson parade offer fun activities

As with several other events, winter weather postponed last weekend's Downtown Christmas Open House in Cape Girardeau and the Jackson Christmas Parade. Both have been rescheduled for this weekend.

The Old Town Cape Downtown Christmas Open House will be from 5 to 9 tonight. There will be caroling, wagon rides and pictures with Santa. Adults can pick up ticket packets for a chance to win a $1,500 shopping spree in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Contest registration will be held at Hutson's Fine Furniture and 114 N. Main. To enter the contest, shoppers must drop off a ticket at one or more of the participating businesses. Drop a ticket off at each of the locations to enter more than once.

Participating businesses include Sloan and Themis, Hutson's Fine Furniture, eDen Spa and Salon, Cup'N' Cork, Annie Laurie's Antiques, Sweet Designs Boutique, Stash, C.P. McGinty Jewelers, Main Street Station, Somewhere In Time Antiques, Jayson Jewelers, Philanthropy, Zickfield's Jewelers, Pastimes Antiques, Socials Cafe and Catering, Renaissance, Annie Em's at Home, The Artist Studio, Kid's Bazaar and Hotshots.

The Jackson Christmas Parade will start at 3 p.m. Saturday at the corner of High Street and West Madison. The route continues to Main Street and ends at Capaha Bank. The parade is set to finish by 4 p.m. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Santa will be in uptown Jackson.
