A winning year

The St. Louis Cardinals had a disappointing end to an otherwise wonderful season when the team lost to the Boston Red Sox in Game 6 of the World Series on Wednesday night.

The Redbirds offense had its struggles during the Fall Classic while the bearded-Sox capitalized to win a World Series championship for the third time since 2004.

As with many Cardinals fans, we were disappointed to see St. Louis fall short. Nevertheless, it was a phenomenal season.

The Cardinals have a wealth of talent heading into next season. From pitching sensations Michael Wacha, Trevor Rosenthal and Carlos Martinez, to the emergence of Matt Carpenter as an All-Star player and the continued success of Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright, Matt Holliday and others, this organization is stacked with great players.

Decisions will be made in the coming weeks and months that will shape the 2014 squad. There are several variables (Carlos Beltran, the shortstop position, bench depth, etc.), but the Cardinals are poised for success in years to come.

Hats off to the organization on winning the pennant. The memories of the 2013 season were good ones and provided much excitement. Cardinal Nation will be ready to go come spring training as the team prepares to make another run for a 12th World Series championship.
