MissionFest

Many people are compelled to help others and share God's love. It's part of their faith and outreach, and the efforts make a tremendous difference.

On Sunday more than 50 exhibitors will gather at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau to share with others information about various ministries and how to get involved. The event is called MissionFest 2013 and is in its second year. The outreach will take place from 2 to 5 p.m., with music by Mike Dumey & Friends at 2 p.m.

A story on Sunday's Faith page highlighted this event's purpose. Cheryl Mothes, a financial services adviser and one of the organizers of the event, said there are many ways to be involved in the good work taking place.

"It's to promote attendance within your congregation or ministry and to pray individually and corporately that God will use this to stir people to serve Him in a big way," Mothes said.

Whether you are paying for someone's meal -- a ministry Jay and Lori Blankenship started earlier this year -- traveling abroad to help remote areas with running water, or learning about ministries for which to pray, there's something everyone can learn from this event.

If you are part of a church or ministry and interested in the free booth space, visit missionfestcape.org or call 450-6269.

To all those involved in a church or faith-based ministry, thank you. Sunday's event should inspire more people to get involved in their churches.
