IAAP Executive of the Year

Ms. Jennifer L. Weiss, Coordinator of the Center for Writing Excellence at Southeast Missouri State University, was selected as the 2013 Executive of the Year for the Girardot Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) at its annual Executive Night Recognition Banquet on October 15.

Weiss received her B S Degree in Mass Communications and her Master's Degree in English, both from Southeast Missouri State University. She was a teaching assistant in the English Department and also worked as an adjunct faculty teaching English composition for three years. Currently she coordinates the Writing Lab, Writing Across Disciplines, and Writing Assessment, all under the Center for Writing Excellence.

"Jennifer is very supportive of those around her. She always tries to see the good in all people and all situations. She is creative and passionate about her work in the Center for Writing Excellence. Jennifer sees the importance of properly trained staff so she makes sure that all staff members have the opportunity of training. Even though Jennifer has only been coordinator for approximately three months, she has already shown that she is extremely capable of the duties that are required in her position," said Marge Phillips, CAP-OM, Ms. Weiss' Administrative Assistant/Writing Associate in the Center for Writing Excellence at Southeast Missouri State University.

IAAP is made up of administrative assistants, office coordinators, executive secretaries, office managers and other professionals.
