Letter to the Editor

Fix this broken government

Eighty-three percent of our government remains open.

Military retirees are receiving military retired pay. The VA continues to conduct medical appointments. The Pentagon retains authority to pay casualty assistance funds to our fallen heroes, and the Pentagon's lawyers should end their political posturing and disperse payments.

The Capitol grounds are open to register future Democrat voters at events like the illegal amnesty march (although memorials are closed to World War II veterans). Our borders remain as unprotected and porous as the left wishes. Homeland Security continues hoarding ammunition. And Sen. McCaskill continues jetting around birthing and nourishing liberal talking points.

Sen. McCaskill recently stated on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that she won't legislate based on how many calls or letters she receives. Senator, your constituents are contacting your office and you should legislate based on your constituents' will. If it takes partial shutdown to get your attention, then here's your sign.

Do not pass a continuing resolution or raise the debt limit without ending or delaying the individual ACA mandate (similar to Obama's executive order for Big Business and campaign donors) and rein in out-of-control spending.

Close the congressional gym and barbershop. Stop using the taxpayer dime for lavish family vacations. Stop sending billions to unfriendly foreign governments. Stop spending $130 million annually to keep farmers from farming on their land. Stop wasting $150 million annually allowing federal employees to fly first class. Don't spend $2.6 million annually teaching Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly.

Fix this broken government or keep it closed.
