The New Beginnings Soup Kitchen

The New Beginnings Church of Deliverance, 1024 William St. has opened a "Soup Kitchen," in the back of their church. Pastor Dorothy Wilson and Bishop Carey Wilson, who also operate The New Beginnings House of Refuge, felt the calling of God to open a "Soup Kitchen" to feed those who are less fortunate than others.

"Sunday afternoon this room was a storage room, but by Monday morning it was transformed into a dinning room." Said Pastor David McNeely of The Church of God, 209 East Cape Rock Dr.

Friday October 4th found Pastor and Bishop Wilson hard at work preparing food for anyone who walked into the dinning room to eat. They had church members Viola Morgan, Jenniffer Cook and Pastor Aaron Robinson helping in cooking and serving.

"Bishop and Pastor Wilson once lived in a nice Ranch home in a nice subdivision," said Pastor McNeely. "They sold that home, bought this building and opened a church, then they bought a home across the street and opened a Homeless Shelter."

The Wilson's have since bought another house behind the church for the homeless and have also renovated their church building to include a dinning room. The "Soup Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all are welcome to enjoy a bowl of chilli or soup, a hot dog and juice.

Donations of food, clothing or money may also be given at the church.
