'Gone Girl' author Flynn on 'Late Night' tonight

Gillian Flynn, author of "Gone Girl" and screenwriter of 20th Century Fox's film adaptation of her novel, will make an appearance tonight on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."

Flynn's "Gone Girl," a thriller published in 2012, is the basis of the movie which is currently being filmed in Cape Girardeau. The book was No. 1 on The New York Times Hardcover Fiction Bestseller list for eight weeks, and by the end of its first year in publication had sold more than 2 million copies in print and digital editions. 20th Century Fox purchased the "Gone Girl" film rights from Flynn for a reported $1.5 million.

Flynn, 42, grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from the University of Kansas and Northwestern University. Her other works include "Sharp Objects" and "Dark Places."

"Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" airs at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
