Jackson team wins at Scott City cook-off

A Jackson team, Three Knights and a Lutheran, won grand-championship honors at the Knights of Columbus cook-off held at Scott City. The event took place Aug. 2 and 3 and was sponsored by Kohlfeld Distributing. There were 19 teams from the area and the Missouri towns of Springfield, Dexter and Hillsboro. Winners of each contest were as follows: Scott City Ice Cream Corner dessert contest won by Show Me Your Pits; Mid-America Hotels/Drury Restaurant bloody mary contest won by Grillin B Cuz; Capaha Bank chicken barbecue division won by Head Cheese Gang, first place, You Can't Beat Our Meat, second place, and Three Knights and a Lutheran, third place; Ray Jay's BBQ ribs contest won by Head Cheese Gang, first place, Smokin' Brothers, second place, and Daddy-O, third place; Columbia Construction pork butt category won by Smoken Boys, first place, Show Me Your Pits, second, and River Eagle Cooking Team, third; and First State Community Bank brisket contest won by Chaffee's Finest Ribs and Butts, first place, Johnny John's BBQ, second place, and River Eagle Cooking Team in third place.
