I-66 corridor

The effort to construct a new route between Cape Girardeau and Paducah, Ky., takes another step forward Wednesday. A meeting is being held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Shawnee Community College gymnasium in Ullin, Ill., as part of a study looking at potential routes that would connect the two cities.

Dubbed the 66 corridor, this has been a project long in the making. Jeff Glenn, who is consulting for the Transamerica Corridor Corporation, told the Southeast Missourian recently that this effort has been in the works for 20 years or more. The Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce has been a strong supporter. Its leadership is encouraging members to attend the meeting.

If you have suggestions for those working on the study, we hope you consider attending. It's important to have an active citizenry. These meetings provide an opportunity for business leaders and others it the community to engage and provide important feedback.

If you would like to provide input, comments will be accepted in writing Wednesday or online at 66corridor.org.
