People's Choice Awards

Voting continues for the Southeast Missourian People's Choice Awards 2013. The annual contest is a good opportunity for readers to vote for their favorite business -- a distinction many establishments take seriously. For proof, just look at the number of storefront windows that proudly display their blue ribbon stickers from past years.

There are 107 categories, ranging from antiques to wine selection. Next month the newspaper will publish a special section announcing the winners.

Voting ends Monday, so we encourage you to turn in your ballots in the coming days. You can submit one ballot by paper and one online.

In addition to the satisfaction of seeing your Cape Girardeau County favorites recognized, there will be a drawing for $500 in prizes.

Here are the contest rules:

You must be a least 18 years or older to enter. No purchase is necessary. You may submit only one paper ballot and one online ballot. Only one vote will be allowed by computer, identified by its IP [Internet Protocol] address. Although the questionnaire must be fully completed for the entry to be eligible for the $500 in prizes, all responses will be counted in selecting the "best of ..." in each category. You may answer "I don't know" or "not applicable" and still be eligible to win the $500 in prizes. Only one online vote will be allowed per computer. All entries must be received in our office by 5 p.m. Monday. The winner will be chosen by random drawing. The No. 1 Business Winners will be determined by the results and will be published in the Southeast Missourian in August. Contest results do not reflect the views of the Southeast Missourian.
