CAPE COUNTY TEA PARTY MEETING

On June 18th, 2013 at 6:30pm, the Cape County Tea Party (CCTP) will hold its open monthly meeting at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. The meeting is also called Third Tuesday Tea Time (TTTT) and is held on the Third Tuesday of each month to continue the work to complete our Mission as stated below.

Guiding Our Representatives

As an exercise in guiding our representatives, and at his suggestion, we will welcome Cape Girardeau City Councilman Wayne Bowen to our meeting this month. Wayne suggested we come together to work in conjunction on ways that Cape Girardeau can improve. Other Cape and Jackson officials have been invited, and we hope they will attend.

We will loosely follow this order of discussion:

- Brainstorm / conduct research on innovative local government programs across the nation trying to find creative ways to cut spending and provide more services

- Review the tax options the Cape City Council is discussing and which will be put to a vote

- Take a walk through the Cape budget for 2013-14

Please take some time to investigate ideas and methods in use across the nation for reducing taxes and limiting government at the city level and bring them to the event!

Of course, with the attendance of other invited officials, Jackson issues and budget may be added. Regardless, we hope for a spirited discussion and some great ideas from Cape County Tea Party's members.

Wayne Bowen

Wayne H. Bowen, Professor and Chair of the History Department at Southeast Missouri State University, is a specialist on modern Spanish history, with three published books in the field, one forthcoming, and two on the history of the Middle East. His primary areas of research have been the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, the relations between Spain and Nazi Germany, and World War II. Other areas of research and teaching interest include the modern Middle East, military history, and the Mediterranean. He is also working on a project comparing the declines of the Spanish and Ottoman Empires in the 18th and 19th centuries.

In addition to his academic career, Bowen is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve, with deployments to Bosnia (1998) and Iraq (2004). He currently commands the 347th Adjutant General Battalion, in Carbondale, Illinois.

He was elected in 2013 to be the Cape Girardeau city council member for Ward 6.

There are lobbyists for unions; lobbyists for banks; lobbyists for lawyers; lobbyists for river smelt; lobbyists for death row murderers; lobbyists for sports stadiums. There are lobbyists for hospitals; lobbyists for labor; lobbyists for Wall Street; lobbyists for genetically modified corn.

Who's lobbying for you and me? The taxpayer / The voter.

Cape County Tea Party members are receiving training on how to expand Self-Governance and use our Civic Authority. What are Self-Governance and Civic Authority? That's the tease. Come to our monthly Third Tuesday Tea Time meeting and get more information about the program and how we will be using it to advance liberty and freedom. We hope you will join us in this exciting program to advance the causes of Fiscal Responsibility, Founding Principles and Constitutionally Limited Government.

The goals of each meeting are to:

- Promote Self-Governance, Freedom, Free Markets, Responsibility, and Civic Authority

- Disseminate current and topical information that affects CCTP members and the community at large (typically a speaker)

- Engage the attendees in a form of activism to work toward the completion of our mission

- Increase the membership of the CCTP
