Letter to the Editor

Congrats to Austin

It is with delight I write this letter to publicly congratulate our friend, Doug Austin, on being awarded the Senior Service Award by Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder. As was noted in the article, Mr. Austin is active in nearly 20 organizations. However, Doug Austin and his lovely wife, Fran, are constant encouragers to countless adults and youth throughout the community.

It is my observation that Doug Austin goes out of his way to find the good in people and the good in our community. When he notes the positive, he is the first to write a note of congratulations and usually accompany that with a follow-up letter to this publication. I know from firsthand experience that Mr. Austin has taken several opportunities to send me, my staff and students at Alma Schrader a beautifully handwritten note offering words of affirmation.

The community benefits greatly from having a man so generous with his time and his words. Doug Austin has certainly been a friend to Alma Schrader Elementary School. I am so glad to have the support he has offered our school and look forward to a continued relationship with Doug, Fran and Bethany Baptist Church.

Congratulations, Doug Austin, on many jobs well done.

Sincerely,

RUTH ANN ORR, principal, Alma Schrader
