Friedheim man dies when tree falls on him

Sunday, March 24, 2013

A man was killed Saturday afternoon in Cape Girardeau County while cutting down a tree for a neighbor.

Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton said "it was a freak accident" that caused the 34-year-old man's death near his home in Friedheim when he was trapped under the tree. Clifton did not release the man's name pending notification of family members, but a death notice sent to the Southeast Missourian by McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson identified him as Waylon A. Friese.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pertinent address:

Friedheim, Mo.

"Clifton did not release the man's name pending notification of family members"

Wow! SE Missourian didn't have the common courtesy to wait till the family was notified.

Missourian out of respect for the family wait until the Coroner makes official notification to the next of kin.

The family had already been notified as evidenced by the funeral home having been notified. Families call the funeral home, not vice versa.

bball15, ONE member of the family notifies the funeral home and in this case, other relatives. ALL family members had not been notified before the paper posted this article.

Suggest some self-proclaimed know-it-alls should hold their thoughts when they do not have all the facts.
